MARTIAL CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Respect and Etiquette

  • After you receive instructions, your instructor will ask you to stand up straight and make a bow showing respect and thanks.

  • When you are about to begin training with a training partner, you will stand up straight and make a bow to thank them for participating in this martial arts practice.

  • Always address instructors as Sensei, Sempai, or by their appropriate title.

  • Show respect to fellow students, instructors, and the training space.

  • No profanity, horseplay, or disruptive behavior in the dojo.

2. Cleanliness and Uniform

  • Wear a clean uniform with the appropriate belt.

  • Keep fingernails and toenails trimmed for safety.

  • Personal hygiene must be maintained—no strong perfumes or body odor.

  • Remove shoes before stepping onto the dojo floor.

  • Shoes must be worn into the gym then removed before stepping onto the mat

  • When proceeding to the toilet you must put back on your shoes when leaving the mat and keep them on when continuing to the bathroom and only removing when stepping back on to the mat

3. Safety First

  • No sparring without instructor supervision.

  • Always wear proper protective gear (mouthguards, gloves, etc.) during contact training.

  • Report all injuries immediately, even minor ones.

  • Practice control in all techniques - Martial Art Training is not about harming others.

4. Discipline and Focus

  • Arrive on time and be prepared to train.

  • If late, bow in quietly and wait for the instructor’s signal before joining.

  • No chewing gum, eating, or using mobile phones in the training area.

  • Follow the instructor’s commands promptly and without argument.

5. Training Attitude

  • Train with intensity, humility, and a willingness to learn.

  • Encourage others, especially lower-ranked students.

  • Refrain from teaching techniques unless authorized.

6. Rank and Progression

  • Students must demonstrate the required skills, attendance, and behavior to be considered for promotion.

  • Never question or challenge a rank decision publicly—respect the grading process.

  • Do not wear or claim a higher rank without official dojo approval.

7. Off-the-Mat & Outside the Dojo

  • Represent the dojo positively outside its walls.

  • Do not use your Martial Arts Training aggressively or irresponsibly outside of self-defense.

  • Uphold Martial's values of honor, courage, and respect in everyday life.
